Description

Bring authentic Nordic thermal therapy to your outdoor living space with the Canadian Timber Tranquility Barrel Sauna by Dundalk Leisurecraft. Handcrafted in Canada from sustainable Eastern White Cedar, the Tranquility features an extended cylindrical barrel design engineered to maximize interior comfort, bench space, and continuous convective airflow. Rising heat naturally circulates along the curved stave walls rather than pooling at the ceiling, ensuring faster heat-up times and an even temperature from bench to floor. Generously sized to seat up to 6 adults comfortably, it creates an expansive backyard sanctuary for family hydrotherapy, daily stress relief, cardiovascular recovery, and social relaxation.

The Tranquility is precision-milled from Grade-A Eastern White Cedar, celebrated for its tight, refined knots, lighter wood grain, and natural aromatic oils that resist moisture, insects, rot, and severe freeze-thaw weather. Every barrel body uses full-length solid single-stave bevels that lock tight without tenon joints along their length, secured with heavy-duty T6061 rust-resistant marine aluminum compression bands. Outfitted with deep 20-inch wide cedar benches, 5 mm bronze tempered safety glass, and versatile dual heating capability (electric or wood-fired), the Tranquility provides an authentic Canadian-made wellness retreat built for decades of all-season outdoor use.

  • Extended 6-Person Capacity: Sized with a spacious 94.75" interior depth and 297 cu. ft. room volume, offering ample room for up to 6 bathers to sit or recline.

  • Convective Thermal Flow: Cylindrical barrel architecture glides heat and steam smoothly along curved walls, cutting warm-up times and eliminating cold drafts.

  • Sustainably Harvested Eastern White Cedar: Sourced exclusively from certified sustainable lumber mills in Ontario and British Columbia, celebrating authentic Canadian craftsmanship.

  • Solid Single-Stave Bevel Construction: Continuous full-length staves lock together seamlessly without weak tenon joints along the body, maximizing structural strength and thermal insulation.

  • T6061 Marine Aluminum Compression Bands: Built with Canadian-made, rust-proof marine-grade aluminum bands engineered to accommodate natural cedar movement throughout shifting seasons.

  • Extra-Wide 20-Inch Benches: Ergonomically designed 20" wide cedar benches provide generous space to sit comfortably or stretch out across the room.

  • Bronze Tempered Glazing: 5 mm heavy bronze tempered single-pane glass on doors and windows provides thermal insulation, subtle privacy, and natural daylighting.

  • Dual Heating Compatibility: Supports high-output 7.5 kW electric sauna heaters as well as heavy-duty wood-burning stoves (size 14–16).

  • 5-Year Craftsmanship Guarantee: Backed by Dundalk Leisurecraft’s 5-year limited manufacturer warranty against craftsmanship and structural defects.

Shipping & Assembly

Assembly Instructions PDF

Assembly Guidelines

  • Pre-Fabricated Kit Assembly: Designed with precision-milled tongue-and-groove beveled staves, pre-assembled front and back wall circular panels, heavy cedar support cradles, and pre-hung bronze tempered glass door assemblies.

  • Crew & Tools Required: Requires 2 capable adults. Standard tools needed include a cordless drill, level, rubber mallet, adjustable 3/4-inch wrench (for compression bands), and a stepladder.

  • Base Foundation Requirements: Must be positioned on a firm, flat, level foundation capable of supporting heavy static weight (poured concrete slab, heavy reinforced timber deck, or compacted patio pavers). Solid cedar support cradles elevate the staves to keep water draining freely away from the base.

Freight Delivery & Packaging

  • Protective Crate Packaging: Ships securely packaged inside a heavy-duty, weather-resistant timber shipping crate.

    • Crate Dimensions: 120" L x 45" W x 34" H (305 cm x 114 cm x 86 cm)

    • Packaged Crate Weight: 1,300 lbs (590 kg) (packaged weight varies depending on selected heater options and stones).

  • Freight Carrier & Liftgate Requirements: Because this shipping crate measures 120 inches (10 feet) in length, standard commercial freight carrier liftgates (maximum 84 inches) cannot accommodate or offload it. Delivery is strictly curbside freight via tractor-trailer. Offloading must be arranged by the customer via one of the following methods:

    1. An on-site forklift, skid steer, or tractor equipped with extended fork attachments lifting from the end of the crate.

    2. A local flatbed tow-truck service hired to transfer the crate from the regional freight terminal directly to your property.

    3. De-crating the individual bundles and pieces directly from the truck bed by hand with an on-site crew within the delivery appointment window.

  • Delivery Appointments & Inspection: The regional terminal will call prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. Inspect all crate surfaces thoroughly before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). If puncture marks or external carton damage are visible, write "Crate arrived damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" on the driver’s receipt and photograph the crate before opening.

Care & Maintenance

Before Each Use & Daily Routine

  • Pre-Session Check: Confirm air intake and outlet vents remain completely unobstructed. Verify that heater stones are positioned correctly without excessive settling, and inspect the heater area/firebox to make sure no personal items, towels, or combustible materials are near the heater.

  • Towel Usage: Always place a towel over the cedar benches during sessions to absorb body perspiration and protect the raw wood grain.

  • After Each Session: Prop the sauna door open to allow fresh air circulation and vent out residual moisture. Wipe down benches, backrests, and high-contact areas with a clean, dry towel. Remove wet towels and clothes, and never leave standing water inside the cabin.

Regular Cleaning & Cedar Care

  • Periodic Wash: Clean the interior periodically based on usage using warm water and a mild soap with a soft cloth or non-abrasive brush; wipe away soap residue and allow the room to dry fully with the door open. Vacuum or sweep beneath the benches regularly to clear dust, hair, and debris.

  • Light Sanding: Lightly sand stained or rough cedar surfaces with fine-grit sandpaper, always sanding parallel to the wood grain.

  • Interior Wood Finish: Interior cedar is left natural and untreated. Never apply paint, varnish, or standard exterior stains to interior sauna surfaces. If wood protection is desired, use only non-toxic oils specially approved for sauna interiors (such as Livos Saunaoil).

  • Exterior Cedar Care & Weathering: Exterior cedar can be left untreated to weather gracefully into a natural silver-gray patina without sacrificing durability, or treated with a high-quality penetrating exterior wood finish (such as Livos exterior wood finish) applied to clean, dry wood to maintain its original warm cedar tone.

  • What to Avoid: Do not use bleach, chlorine, abrasive cleaning pads, or pressure washers on cedar wood.

Compression Bands & Seasonal Care

  • Aluminum Band Maintenance: Cedar naturally expands with humidity and contracts during dry conditions. Check the marine aluminum compression bands after the first month and periodically thereafter. Tighten loose bands using a 3/4-inch wrench so they remain secure without over-tightening, allowing the cedar staves to expand naturally against the bands.

  • Spring & Fall Checks: Inspect exterior cedar, roofing, doors, hinges, handles, vents, and floor drainage channels; lightly sand any rough spots and reapply exterior finish if desired.

  • Winter Care: Engineered for year-round outdoor use, including harsh Canadian winters. Remove heavy snow accumulation from the roof curve, keep the entrance clear of snow and ice, keep air vents unblocked, and never use sharp metal tools to chip ice from cedar staves.

Materials
  • Eastern White Cedar Framing: Handcrafted exclusively from sustainably harvested Grade-A Eastern White Cedar sourced from certified mills in Ontario and British Columbia. The tight-knot timber offers high thermal resistance and natural immunity to rot, decay, and insect attack without chemical pressure treatments.

  • Solid Single-Stave Bevel Profiles: Precision-milled full-length staves fit together seamlessly without tenon joints or end seams along the body, providing an airtight thermal envelope and superior structural strength.

  • T6061 Marine Aluminum Bands: Structural compression bands are manufactured in Canada from heavy-gauge T6061 marine-grade aluminum, delivering high tensile strength and complete rust resistance against outdoor moisture and road salt.

  • Architectural Safety Glass: Door and window panels are crafted from 5 mm bronze tempered single-pane safety glass, combining thermal retention, impact durability, and softened interior lighting.

  • Solid Cedar Base Cradles: Heavy, solid cedar support cradles elevate the barrel off the ground, ensuring positive under-body airflow and protecting staves from moisture pooling.

  • Small Items & Accessories: Standalone accessory orders carry a flat shipping rate of $55.

  • Alaska, Hawaii & Remote Locations: Shipping is not covered under standard free freight; custom freight quotes are required prior to dispatch. Remote regions, limited-access routes, and island deliveries may incur additional carrier surcharges.

  • Cross-Border Clearance: Shipments originating from Canadian manufacturing facilities include all standard customs clearance and border handling.

Freight Delivery & Curbside Details

  • Curbside Delivery Only: Freight shipments are delivered strictly to the curbside or the end of your driveway via standard commercial freight carriers (typically 53-foot 18-wheel tractor-trailers). Drivers do not bring crates into driveways, backyards, or homes, nor do they assist with unpackaging or assembly.

  • Site Accessibility: Customers must verify that a full-sized 18-wheel semi-truck can legally and safely access the street, reach the property, and turn around.

  • Delivery Appointments: The freight carrier contacts the consignee prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. A timely response is mandatory to prevent carrier holding penalties.

  • Delivery Delays & Storage Fees: If delivery is delayed due to an unresponsive recipient, inability to unload, or scheduling conflicts, terminal storage charges of $35 per day will be assessed and billed to the customer.

Unloading Responsibilities & Liftgate Policy

  • Crates 84 Inches or Shorter: Liftgate service is generally available to lower the crate from the truck bed to curbside level.

  • Crates Exceeding 84 Inches: Standard liftgates cannot accommodate crates over 7 feet long. Customers are solely responsible for offloading the crate from the truck bed.

  • Required Offloading Arrangements: For oversized crates, the customer must arrange one of the following prior to delivery:

    • A forklift or mechanical loader equipped with forklift fork extensions, lifting strictly from the crate end.

    • A local tilt flatbed tow-truck service to transfer the crate from the carrier's regional freight terminal to your driveway. (Factory-assisted tilt tow-truck arrangements incur a standard $1,450 fee).

    • A capable crew on-site to de-crate or lift components individually from the truck bed within the carrier’s allotted delivery window.

Delivery Address Changes

  • Prior to Dispatch: Address adjustments submitted before an order leaves the manufacturing facility are processed at no additional cost.

  • After Dispatch / In-Transit: Rerouting or altering the destination address once the crate has left the factory incurs a mandatory $350 carrier rerouting fee.

Damage, Shortages & Freight Return Protocol

  • Crate Inspection at Curbside: All packaging must be thoroughly inspected before signing carrier paperwork.

  • Visible Damage on Arrival: If external damage, crushed corners, or open packaging is observed, you must accept the delivery and write:

"Crate arrived open/damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" clearly on the driver’s Bill of Lading (BOL).

  • Reporting Window: Detailed photos of the packaging, labels, and all damaged parts must be submitted to customer support within 30 days of receipt to qualify for no-charge component replacements under the shipping warranty.

  • Unauthorized Refusals: Deliveries refused without written authorization will be classified as a rejected delivery. Refused shipments are subject to a 15% restocking fee plus all applicable return freight, storage, and reconsignment costs.
